Safe Driving Course
A new service project for Perry Valley Grange in January, 2004, was the sponsorship of a Safe Driving Course in cooperation with AARP.  The 8-hour course of instruction is open to all drivers and those age 55 or older can receive a discount on their automobile insurance upon completion of the course.  Within days of announcing the course at the Grange, it was filled to the 35-person capacity and a waiting list was quickly established for a second course.  That second course was held in May, 2004.  A third course took place in April, 2005.

The instructor for all courses was AARP volunteer Rev. James Cranston of Mifflintown.  The Grange provides the use of its dining hall for the Saturday morning courses and a free breakfast to all participants on the first day of each 2-session course.  Some attribute the popularity of the courses at the Grange to the delicious breakfast, an added feature that is not routinely offered at other AARP sites.
