One of the organizations that never forgets its “service to others” creed is Perry Valley Grange. As others are contemplating their Thanksgiving meal, with all the chatter and company of friends and family, members of Perry Valley were setting the table to provide a meal and companionship to others.
Granger Doug Bonsall is not sure of the longevity of the tradition, but he thinks it to be about 20 years. “It is a way of giving back to a very generous community, and it provides a meal to those who find it difficult cooking, as well as those who have few to cook for,” he said.
When a request for volunteers to help serve was issued, the response was “more volunteers than (we) could practically use,” he noted.
